Alerts & Notifications

My reminder alert didn't go off. What happened?

The most common causes are iOS permission not granted, an active Focus or Do Not Disturb mode, Low Power Mode throttling background work, or the app sitting closed long enough that iOS needed to reschedule (opening it fixes this immediately). Opening Everyday Cue reschedules all alerts on the spot.

Check these in order:

  1. Permission. Open Settings → Notifications → Everyday Cue and confirm alerts are allowed.
  2. Focus / Do Not Disturb. iOS can silence all apps. Add Everyday Cue to your Focus's allowed apps, or use Time-Sensitive or Critical Alerts to break through.
  3. Notification Scheduled Summary. iOS can hold alerts and deliver them in a daily batch. Check Settings → Notifications → Scheduled Summary and remove Everyday Cue from the list — reminders work best delivered immediately, not bundled.
  4. Low Power Mode. iOS throttles Background App Refresh. Plug in and reopen the app.
  5. Background App Refresh. Check Settings → General → Background App Refresh is on for Everyday Cue.

What is the iOS 64-notification limit, and how does Everyday Cue handle it?

iOS allows each app to have at most 64 pending notifications scheduled at once. If you have many reminders with multiple advance alerts, Everyday Cue prioritises the soonest-due ones and queues the rest.

Good to know The Alerts tab on your Dashboard shows every upcoming alert — including ones beyond the iOS 64 cap — so you always have the full picture. Enable the Calendar Backstop to keep getting alerted during long stretches when the app is closed: it mirrors reminders into a private on-device calendar so iOS keeps firing them independently of the 64-cap.

See How Everyday Cue plans your alerts and Stay alerted even when the app is closed for details.

How do I change the time my alerts arrive?

Set a default time for every reminder in Settings → Notification Defaults → Default Time. To override it for one reminder, edit that reminder, open its schedule, and set a custom alert time there. Changes take effect immediately — no restart needed. See Control when and how alerts arrive.

Can I pause a reminder's alerts without losing the schedule?

Yes. Open a reminder, tap Pause Alerts, and choose a duration (up to 365 days). The entire schedule stays intact — nothing fires until you resume, and the next occurrence is right where you left off. You can also snooze a single alert directly from the notification itself.

What happens to my alerts when I travel to a different time zone?

By default, alert times float with your device — so a 9:00 AM reminder fires at 9:00 AM wherever you land. If you'd rather a reminder stay locked to its home time zone (for example, a bill due at 9:00 AM Eastern regardless of travel), pin a time zone in the reminder's edit view under the alert time. More in What happens to reminders when you travel.

iCloud & Sync

How does iCloud sync work in Everyday Cue?

Everyday Cue uses your existing Apple ID and iCloud — there's no separate account and no Everyday Cue servers. Sign into iCloud on your device with iCloud Drive enabled, and sync starts automatically. Your reminders, schedules, notes, and documents stay in step across every iPhone and iPad signed into the same Apple ID. See Sync privately across iPhone and iPad.

iCloud sync isn't working. What should I check?

Work through this checklist:

  1. Confirm you're signed into iCloud in Settings → [your name] → iCloud.
  2. Make sure iCloud Drive is toggled on.
  3. Check you have a network connection (Wi-Fi or cellular).
  4. Disable Low Power Mode temporarily — it can slow iCloud activity.
  5. The first sync on a new device can take a few minutes. Give it time, then restart the app.

Do I need iCloud to use Everyday Cue?

No. Everyday Cue works fully offline — everything lives on your device. iCloud sync is optional. If you enable it later, it kicks in automatically. Your data is yours whether you sync or not.

Is my synced data private and encrypted?

Yes. Your data lives in your own private iCloud container — not on any Everyday Cue server. We have no access to it. Apple encrypts CloudKit data in transit and at rest. See our full Privacy Policy.

Privacy by design Everyday Cue has no account system, no analytics SDK, and no advertising identifier. The only data leaving your device is what iCloud carries into your own personal iCloud container — and we can't see it.

Reminders & Schedules

What's the difference between archiving and deleting a reminder?

Archive is reversible: the reminder stops firing and moves to its group's Archived section, where it stays recoverable forever. Delete is permanent — all schedules, notes, and attached documents are gone after a confirmation. When in doubt, archive. More in Archive vs. delete — which one to use.

Can one reminder have multiple schedules?

Yes. Edit a reminder, scroll to Schedules, and add as many recurring intervals or one-time events as you need — each with its own cadence, alert time, and up to 10 advance alert offsets. A mortgage reminder could have a monthly schedule and a one-time event for an annual review, all in one place. See Repeat every month, week, or custom day.

I marked a reminder complete by accident. Can I undo it?

Yes. Open the reminder, find the action under Recent Actions, tap the menu on that entry, and choose a different option or No Action Taken to remove it entirely. That returns the occurrence to your pending queue as if you never touched it.

Can I track professional license renewals and certifications?

Yes — it's a common use. Nurses keeping their state board renewal on schedule. Real estate agents, cosmetologists, EMTs, CDL holders, and notaries keeping certifications current. Financial professionals watching a FINRA CE deadline. Anything with a renewal date works the same way: name it, set how far ahead you want a heads-up (30 days? 90 days?), and attach a copy of the license if you want it handy when you go to renew.

Unlike platforms built around one profession, Everyday Cue handles every renewal in one place — your nursing license alongside your passport, car registration, and home warranty. One-time purchase, no $6–7/month subscription.

Can I track my FSA spend-down deadline so I don't lose the money?

Yes. FSA accounts have a hard "use it or lose it" cutoff — typically December 31, though some plans allow a short grace period or limited rollover. Most employers send one or two email reminders at most; plenty of people still end up losing hundreds of dollars every year because the deadline crept up on them.

Setting a reminder in mid-October with a few advance alerts (90 days, 30 days, 1 week) gives you enough runway to schedule eligible appointments, stock up on qualifying items, or submit outstanding reimbursements before the cutoff. The same pattern works for open enrollment deadlines, COBRA election windows, and dependent care FSA spending.

No account required, no bank connection — just a name, a date, and as many advance nudges as you want.

If I delete a reminder, can I get it back?

No — delete is permanent. There's a confirmation step before anything is removed, but once confirmed the reminder and everything attached to it is gone. If you think you might want it back someday, use Archive instead. Archived reminders are recoverable at any time. See Archive vs. delete.

Documents

What file types can I attach to a reminder?

PDF, JPEG, PNG, and HEIC are the supported formats — add them by scanning, taking a photo, choosing from Photos, or picking from the Files app. Documents are stored on your device and — if sync is on — in your private iCloud container. See Attach a warranty, receipt, or insurance document.

Where are my attached documents stored?

On your device, inside Everyday Cue's private app container. If iCloud sync is on, they're also mirrored to your personal iCloud — encrypted in transit and at rest. They're never sent to us or any third party.

Widget

My Home Screen widget isn't updating. How do I refresh it?

iOS refreshes widgets on its own schedule — roughly every 30 minutes. To force an immediate refresh, tap the widget to open the app: Everyday Cue updates the widget timeline the moment it runs. If the widget looks permanently stale, try removing it from your Home Screen and re-adding it. More in Put upcoming reminders on your Home Screen.

Privacy & Data

Does Everyday Cue collect or share my personal data?

No. There's no tracking, no advertising identifier, and no third-party analytics or ad SDKs in Everyday Cue. An optional Help Us Improve setting (off by default) records anonymous usage events — they stay on your device and are never transmitted anywhere. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.

How do I export or delete all my data?

Go to Settings → Data Management. Export Data writes a complete JSON backup you can save anywhere via the Share sheet. Delete All Data permanently removes everything after a confirmation — use with care. See Back up or delete all your data.

Pricing & the App

Do I need to create an account or sign up?

No. There's no Everyday Cue account — nothing to sign up for, no email required, no password to remember. Your reminders live on your device. If you want sync across your iPhone and iPad, it uses your existing Apple ID through iCloud — the same Apple ID you already have. No new account, no new login.

Is Everyday Cue free to download?

Everyday Cue is a one-time purchase — pay once and it's yours to keep, with no subscription, no recurring charges, and no feature tiers or add-ons to buy. Free updates are included.

Is there a subscription fee?

No. Everyday Cue is a one-time purchase — pay once, own it forever. No recurring charges, no feature tiers, no "premium" upsell. All features, including iCloud sync and document attachments, are included.

Does Everyday Cue work on iPad?

Yes. Everyday Cue runs on iPhone and iPad (iOS 18 or later). iCloud sync keeps both devices in step automatically when you're signed into the same Apple ID.
