Everyday Cue

How to add the Home Screen widget

Put your next reminders on the Home Screen in a small or medium size.

The widget keeps your upcoming reminders one glance away — no need to open the app.

Add it

  1. Long-press an empty part of your Home Screen until the icons jiggle.
  2. Tap the + button (top corner).
  3. Search for Everyday Cue.
  4. Pick a size and tap Add Widget.

The two sizes

  • Small — your next 1 upcoming reminder.
  • Medium — your next 3 upcoming reminders.

Good to know

  • The widget is read-only. Tap it to open the app for any editing.
  • It refreshes on iOS's own schedule (about every 30 minutes). To force an update sooner, tap the widget to open the app — that triggers an immediate refresh.
Tip: if the widget shows something you just completed or deleted, it simply hasn't refreshed yet. Opening the app brings it current.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the widget showing a reminder I already completed? The widget hasn't refreshed yet. iOS controls refresh timing (roughly every 30 minutes). Opening Everyday Cue forces an immediate update — the widget should reflect the change within seconds.

Can I tap a specific reminder in the widget to open it directly? The widget taps open Everyday Cue, but not directly to the tapped reminder. This is an iOS limitation on the current widget implementation — you land on the app's main view.

Can I choose which group the widget shows reminders from? Not currently. The widget shows your next upcoming reminders across all groups, sorted by soonest due date.

Why isn't my reminder appearing in the widget even though it's active? The widget only shows reminders with upcoming scheduled dates. A reminder with no schedule, a future start date, or a paused status won't appear until it has an upcoming occurrence.
