How to create a reminder

The basics: name it, drop it in a group, and save. Add a schedule whenever you're ready.

A reminder is a single thing you want to remember. Creating one takes seconds; you can add a schedule, notes, or documents now or later.

Create it

  1. Open the Dashboard, or open the group where the reminder belongs.
  2. Tap the + button.
  3. Enter a name — reminder names can be up to 100 characters and may include emoji.
  4. Choose a group for the reminder. If you started from inside a group it's already selected — a reminder can't be saved without a group.
  5. (Optional) Set a start date and a schedule so it recurs or fires on a date.
  6. Tap Save.

That's it. A reminder with no schedule is simply a thing on your list; add a schedule any time to have Everyday Cue nudge you.

Tip: names must be unique within a group (capitalization is ignored), so Rent and rent count as the same. Pick names you'll recognize at a glance on the dashboard and widget.

What you can add later

Open any reminder and tap Edit to build it out:

Groups, briefly

Every reminder lives in one group. Create groups by topic — Home, Work, Health — or any way that suits you. When you make a new group, Everyday Cue opens it so you can add the first reminder right away.

Frequently asked questions

Can I move a reminder to a different group? Yes. Open the reminder, tap Edit, and change the group. The reminder keeps all its history and schedules.

What makes a reminder name invalid? Two things: it's longer than 100 characters, or another reminder in the same group already has that name (case-insensitive). The app tells you which rule was tripped so you can adjust.

Is there a limit to how many reminders I can create? Each group holds up to 1,000 reminders, and you can create up to 500 groups — practical ceilings far above everyday use. Everyday Cue stores everything in a local SQLite database on your device.

Can I edit a reminder after saving it? Yes, any time. Open it and tap Edit. Changing a schedule regenerates future alerts but leaves your past actions untouched.
